Vitamin C is great for the skin for several reasons:
Collagen Production: Vitamin C is essential for the synthesis of collagen, a protein that helps keep the skin firm and smooth. Collagen production naturally decreases with age, but boosting with Vitamin C can help maintain skin structure and reduce the signs of aging.
Anti-oxidant Protection: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules generated by stressors in the environment. Stressors may include UV radiation, pollution and smoking. This damage can lead to premature again and skin conditions like wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
Brightening and Even Skin Tone: Vitamin C helps to brighten the complexion and reduce dark spots or hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanin production. This can result in more even-toned skin and a reduction in the appearance of age spots or acne scars.
Sun Damage Repair: While its not a substitute for sunscreen, Vitamin C can help to repair some of the damaged caused by UV exposure. It can neutralize free radicals generated by sun exposure and may reduce inflammation and redness.
Hydration: Vitamin C also helps the skin retain moisture, promoting a more hydrated and plump appearance.
For these reasons, it is important to include Vitamin C serum in your daily skincare routine. As we age, we all want to address concerns like dullness, fine lines, ad pigmentation.
